My name is Julia, I am a jeweler and designer of the Ymu brand.

The daughter of a cabinetmaker, I grew up in a workshop and always knew that I too would do crafts, with this underlying desire to create my own brand.

It was important to me that this brand be consistent with my fundamentals:
respect the environment and humans,
promote inclusivity by addressing everyone.

I worked hard to connect everything that drives me and imagine a universe that resembles me, while responding to a real need.

Manifesto

I am proud of my job and I want to prove that we can make modern, sustainable, ethical and unique jewelry at fair prices.

I'm tired of seeing the same trendy gold-plated necklace, the same ring set with a synthetic stone, the same industrial earrings on exclusively female bodies.

I dream of seeing humans proudly wearing quality, gender-neutral jewelry that will last over time and help change the way we look at bodies.

It is with this idea that I created Ymu:
A brand of unisex jewelry made from recycled silver, handmade in my workshop in France.
Jewelry anchored in its time, with low social and environmental impact, which celebrates diversity and asserts the freedom to be oneself.

    I use recycled and upcycled materials rather than materials imported from the other side of the world, extracted in mines where workers are exploited and the environment devastated.

    Gender-neutral and for all bodies.

    It is important to me that everyone can make my jewelry their own, and that it can enhance all humans without distinction of gender, body type, age, ethnicity or culture.

    Anti-fast fashion approach.

    I design my jewelry so that it lasts and evolves with you.
    When you buy me a piece of jewelry, it's for life!
    Even if you get tired of it, you can send it back to me to be recycled.

    Being yourself, beyond norms and conventions.

    I don't identify with a fashion that dictates who or how we should be.
    I create pieces in very small numbered series that will make you unique.

It's about breaking free from norms and conventions : being part of the people of all genders, sizes, builds, ethnic and cultural backgrounds who wear my jewelry. Far from what is imposed on us by fashion and consumer society.

It's about being unique and cultivating your difference , by wearing jewelry produced in small numbered series.

It's about being anti-fast fashion and ephemeral trends , while being accompanied by my jewelry throughout your life, because they can be recycled endlessly.

It means participating in changing our consumption patterns , by choosing to buy jewelry produced in an ethical and eco-responsible manner.

Eco-responsibility

Everything has been designed to make Ymu an eco-responsible brand:

  1. Raw material : I source from a French refiner who collects and recycles waste from the jewelry industry.
  2. Manufacturing : In the workshop, I use natural products and I ban anything toxic.
  3. Packaging : the jewelry is packaged in recycled fabric pouches that I slip into FSC cardboard boxes, both made in Europe.
  4. Printing : I use recycled paper and eco-friendly inks.
  5. Shipping : The packages are made from recycled cardboard and produced by a small French company, which also provides me with wadding made from recycled fabric scraps for packing the packages.

  2. Prefer delivery to a relay point to home delivery.
  3. Recycle or reuse packaging .
  4. Send me your jewelry back so I can recycle it .
